Our top tips for our Luxe Decoupage Paper 40gsm application:

Iron method

  • When designing your piece using decoupage paper, remember that all true decoupage papers are transparent. A brightly coloured or white background give a clear, crisp image once the glue has dried. A dark background will dull the image to create a moody or softer look.
  • If you are trying to achieve a wrinkle free finish, roll a couple of coats of Mod Podge, PVA glue or clear coat directly onto your project. If you are applying to an unsealed surface, you may need more coats. Let dry completely.
  • Once dry, gently place the Luxe decoupage paper onto your project.
  • Place a piece of baking/brown paper over your Luxe decoupage paper and then use an iron on a medium heat with no steam to iron your paper into place. Work from the centre outwards.

Free hand method

  • When designing your piece using decoupage paper, remember that all true decoupage papers are transparent. A brightly coloured or white background give a clear, crisp image once the glue has dried. A dark background will dull the image to create a moody or softer look.
  • Working in 10cm sections at a time, add the glue to your project.
  • Place the top edge of your Luxe decoupage paper on to the glued area of the project. Then take our blue applicator tool, or a balled piece of glad wrap/saran wrap/cling film or a lint free cloth to smooth over the glued area of the decoupage paper. Work from the top down or the middle to the outside edge.
  • Move to the next section of the Luxe decoupage paper adding more glue to your project, then again using our blue applicator tool or the wrap/film/cloth to adhere the tissue paper to this section.
  • Repeat until you have adhered the Luxe decoupage paper to your project.
